Spring Break 2026 and Future updates!
Every rower knows the feeling of getting back on the water, and that is when the spring season truly begins. UConn Men’s Crew took a step forward and made the most of spring break, focusing on technique, increased intensity, and team bonding. From indoor training to our first race of the season, UCMC built a strong foundation for the racing season ahead.
Spring Break week!
We opened the week with three days of indoor training, as the lake was still frozen, and made the most of it with fun drilling and pieces such as all eight on sliders. These sessions focused on reinforcing fundamentals and preparing the team to return to the water.
On Thursday, 3/26, UCMC traveled to Connecticut College, where we were able to take full advantage of Conn College’s facilities. The boys got back on the water for the first time this season on the Thames River with long steady-state paddles to re-establish RHYTHM.
In the afternoon, athletes had the opportunity to hop on the tanks, allowing us to make adjustments to our technique with detailed feedback from our Head Coach.
On Friday, 3/27, the intensity increased, starting with battle paddles against Conn College boats and transitioning into some short, timed pieces. This session provided an early opportunity to compete and set the tone for the season. Later, UCMC wrapped up the day with a session on the tank.
With these intensive sessions, athletes had time to recover and do some side quests by exploring Connecticut College’s campus and visiting local restaurants.
On Saturday, 3/28, we went back to the Thames River for one final long paddle, emphasizing pressure for rate and applying the technical changes from the tank sessions.
Carrying forward the intensity and focus built over spring break, the team returned to Coventry for regular 5 AM sessions.
Season Opener!
On April 4, UConn Men’s Crew competed against Connecticut College on a 2k course at Coventry. The team put out a strong performance in the first race of the season, setting a benchmark for where we stand and what we aim to improve moving forward

Looking Ahead: The Knecht Cup!
As practices continue to intensify, UCMC will travel to New Jersey for the Knecht Cup this weekend(4/10 - 4/12). The boys are looking forward to putting together a strong performance.
We’d love to see our alumni, family, and friends come out and support the team, as your support continues to push our intensity throughout the season.
Stay tuned for more updates as we chase speed and success this spring!
